The Promotion of Agricultural Development in Grand Bahama

 

The Ministry for Grand Bahama will:

  1. Develop a Model Agriculture Farm with guidance and support from the Bahamas Agricultural and Industrial Corporation (BAIC) Board.
  2. Establish an Agricultural Cadet Corps Programme

Agriculture Cadet Corps Programme - Course details

  • For senior high schools students (private and public schools)
  • Three (3) days per week
  • Time: 4:00pm -5:30pm  on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 9:00am -1:00pm on Saturdays

This ministry and BAIC will oversee:

  1. Recruitment exercises;
  2. Training courses;
  3. Graduation - for students who successfully complete the 3 year course;
  4. The award of 5 acres of crown land to graduates of this programme;
  5. A grant to assist with farming project;
  1. Promote the development of tertiary level programmes at local institutions
  2. Establish relations with Grand Bahama Farmers Association and other local farmers
  3. Establish relations with Ministry of Education Science and Technology
  4. Establish relations with Agriculture Marine Resources Department
  5. Establish relations with Urban Renewal
  6. Establish relations with BAIC
  7. Establish relations with BTVI
  8. Consult agricultural consultants e.g. IICA
