Environmental/Contractual Matters - Grand Bahama Port Authority Ltd.

 

The Government of the Bahamas will re-establish proper working relationship with the Grand Bahama Port Authority.  One of the key factors in the relationship will be the monitoring of the Hawksbill Agreement by the Ministry for Grand Bahama.
 

The Ministry for Grand Bahama in conjunction with the Grand Bahama Port Authority will develop a monthly reporting system which will require the Grand Bahama Port Authority to report to the Ministry for Grand Bahama on matters related to the following:

  1. The issuance of new Business licenses
  2. The issuance of new Building Permits
  3. The issuance of Occupancy Certificates
  4. Inspection of Industrial Plants and related facilities
  5. Inspection of Waste Management Systems
  6. Environmental matters

Additionally, the Grand Bahama Port Authority will be required to provide to the Ministry for Grand Bahama, monthly reports related to its activities with respect to:

  1. Public Relations (business promotions)
  2. Community Relations
  3. Project Management and;
  4. Monitoring/Compliance of privately owned subdivisions

The Ministry for Grand Bahama is conscious of the Grand Bahama Port Authority’s regulatory functions under the Hawksbill Creek Agreement, therefore, the foregoing reporting is not intended to impede or infringe the Agreement.
