Minister for Grand Bahama

 

THE HONOURABLE DR. MICHAEL RONALD DARVILLE, M.P.
MINISTER FOR GRAND BAHAMA

 

 

The Honourable Dr. Michael Darville M.P. was born on July 11, 1960 in New Providence.  He received his primary and secondary education at Queens College, Nassau, Bahamas.  He began his tertiary education at The College of The Bahamas where he received an Associate’s Degree in Engineering.  He went on to complete a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering at the University of Windsor in Canada, and the University Of London College Of Engineering Studies. 

He later studied Medicine at the University of the West Indies and upon completion; the Honourable Dr. Michael Darville became a member of the Bahamas Medical Council.  He worked for a short while as a medical doctor in the Ministry of Health and then established his own private practice in family medicine.  The Honourable Dr. Michael Darville was a very successful businessman and managed multiple business ventures before the commencement of his political career.  

His political career started in 2009 when he was appointed to the Senate by The Right Honourable Perry Christie, a position he held until 2012.  On May 7, 2012 he was elected to the House of Assembly as a Member of Parliament for the Pineridge Constituency, Grand Bahama.    On May 11th, 2012, he was appointed Minister to the Cabinet of the Bahama by The Right Honourable Perry Christie. His portfolio responsibility is Minister for Grand Bahama. The Honourable Dr. Michael Darville is the first Cabinet Minister to be appointed away from the capital city, Nassau.   

 He is married to Mrs. Susie Darville.  They are the proud parents of two sons David and Darryl.
