Conveyance refers to the documentation of the transfer of ownership of land from one party to another. During conveyance exercises the Minister responsible for Housing transfers to purchasers the title to properties that were sold by him or her. The execution of a conveyance is the final step to obtain ownership of government houses/lots. The owners must visit the Department of Housing in person to sign the Conveyance documents. However, where an approved lender is unable to obtain a mortgage loan, due to some impediment on the part of the purchaser, the offer of a mortgage loan will be withdrawn, and the Ministry of Housing and the prospective purchaser is so informed.
Home owners (citizens and permanent residents of The Bahamas) who have paid for the lot or made arrangements for payment through a lending agency.
At this point the Department of Housing would already have all required documents. Therefore, there are no additional supporting documents needed for this service.
Conveyance is usually completed within one week. There is no deadline associated with this service.
The Conveyance fees are included in the purchase price of the property.
