Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for appointment as COURT ADMINISTRATOR within the Office of the Judiciary (Supreme & Magistrates' Courts), New Providence, The Bahamas.
The successful applicant would report to The Honourable Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and/or the Chief Magistrate of the Magistrates' Courts.
Key Responsibilities:-
- Liaising with the Registrar and all supervisors in respect of matters affecting staff;
- Conduct conferences and meetings while communicating clearly in writing and speech to judicial officers, employees, representatives of other government, private agencies and the general public;
- Directing and co-coordinating non-judicial activities of The Judiciary;
- Participate in the establishment of policy objectives and priorities for the judiciary;
- Periodically evaluating the overall performance of court systems;
- Coordinating the relevant departments in the preparation of the annual draft budget;
- Coordinating training programs;
- Organize and co-ordinate repairs and general upkeep of the courts;
- Assisting with the administration of the Court Management Information System;
- Identifying staffing needs and making recommendations regarding new appointments;
- Investigating and resolving complaints from staff and the public.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:-
- Applicants must have a Bachelors Degree in Management or Administration or a related area from an accredited college or university and at least Ten (10) years supervisory experience;
- Applicants must have knowledge of the constitutional relationship of the various arms of Government;
- Applicant must have knowledge and experience in budget preparation;
- Applicants must have a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite, especially, Word and Excel;
- Applicant should be a mature person with excellent administrative and managerial skills and a keen sense of time management;
- Ability to understand, promote and model high ethical standards;
- Knowledge of the Judicial and Legal Service Commission regulations, the Public Service regulations and the civil and criminal procedural rules are an asset.
Salary and benefits will be commensurate with experience.
