Dental Fillings are done to remove tooth decay and prevent it from further progressing as cavities usually get worse over time. The earlier the filling is done, the stronger the tooth remains. The tooth is thoroughly cleaned and some form of replacement is added to restore the tooth as close as possible to its original state. There are 2 types of fillings - amalgam and composite.
Amalgam fillings
- Silver filling
- Lasts a long time under great pressure
Composite fillings
- White
- Durable
- Used mainly for front teeth, though it may be applied to back teeth
- Aids in the cosmetic appearance of teeth
