The Government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas requires all facility personnel responsible for security duties to have appropriate knowledge, through training or equivalent job experience.  The Port Department conducts this training course to provide the necessary knowledge to those who may be designated to perform the duties of security personnel at a port facility.


Eligibility 

Any employee on the Port with security-related duties.

Process 
  1. Employers must ensure that their security personnel attend the “Training for Persons with Security Duties” course conducted by the Port Department.  
  2. Seminars are organised by the port and participants are invited to attend.
  3. Seminars are conducted at:

  4. Upon successful completion of the course, the certificate is issued
  5. Staff members are required to do refresher courses every 18 months to maintain their certification.

Turn-around time 
Seminar dates are scheduled based on the volume of requests. Once the seminar is completed, certificates are immediately issued to participants.

There is no fee associated with these seminars when conducted by the Port Department.
