Social Service for Grand Bahama

The Social Services needs on Grand Bahama are excessive and immediate intervention is needed to bring some meaning relief to the hurting residence.

Immediate needs

  1. Relocation of the Department of Social Services to adequately accommodate all arms of the department under one roof.
  2. In light of the sluggish economy funding for programmes is a serious issue for the Department of Social Services on Grand Bahama.  Additional funding for programmes to address the pressing welfare needs is a priority.
  3. Identification of a facility for temporary housing, and a temporary meals-on-wheels type facility to help with homelessness in the short term.
  4. The unemployed must be redirected to the many training programs offered at the Bahamas Technical & Vocational Institute (BTVI).
