The overall policy of the child health clinic is to ensure the health and well-being of all children in The Bahamas. Services include both prevention and curative measures. However, in community paediatrics, preventive care is emphasised.

Well Baby and Sick Baby Clinic
During well-baby clinics, the growth and development of your baby is assessed; this is also important for the early detection and possible prevention of growth disorders, developmental problems, hearing loss, vision defects, emotional and behavioural disorders; as well as detecting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). If your child is sick, no appointment is required.

A child’s first medical check-up is a component of the preventative services offered at Community Health Clinics, by the Maternal and Child Health Programme. This service includes a routine physical examination, growth and developmental appraisal and immunizations.
