As a member of the Ministry of National Security’s Technical Electronic Monitoring Committee the BNGIS Centre technical assistance in several areas including but not limited to Electronic Monitoring Project Proposal evaluation and matters related to Geographic Information Systems, project management, administrative procedures, standards and protocols.

Electronic Monitoring/Tagging is a form of non-surreptitious surveillance consisting:

• Electronic device attached to a person.
• GPS embedded - allowing offenders whereabouts to be monitored by a control centre.
• Form of criminal sentencing Particularly Useful for early detection of flight when defendants have been granted pretrial release.
