The Sports Hall of Fame is the highest award that The Bahamas Government gives to individuals for their accomplishment in sports.  This award is bestowed by the government on an annual basis.  Each year, the Sporting Federation would recommend a list of athletes to be considered for inclusion in the Sports Hall of Fame. All nominees must be submitted to the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture, Department of Sport for consideration.

Any Bahamian athlete who meets the criteria outlined in the guidelines governing the nomination of candidates for the National Hall of Fame of The Bahamas is eligible.

1. The Department of Sports will send out nomination forms to all sporting federations in January of the previous year.
2. The Sporting Federation may submit nominees for the Sports Hall of Fame to the Department of Sports.  
3. The Federation must ensure that all nominees meet the criteria outlined in the guidelines governing the nomination of candidates for the National Hall of Fame of The Bahamas.
4. Once nominations are submitted, the Department of Sports will verify the information that was submitted.  
5. Once final determination has been made The Department of Sport will inform the Sport Federation in writing.
6. Nominees are informed of their selection by January of the following year.
