The growth and development of youth bands form a microcosm of the Ministry’s Strategic Plan for Youth Development. Youth bands provide healthy alternatives for youth at the community level.
The Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture, through the Department of Youth, gives annual grants to Youth bands that are registered with the Department of Youth, to assist with Youth Band Strengthening. Interested bands may make requests to the Ministry of Youth Sports and Culture, Department of Youth. Grants are provided at the discretion of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture.
- Must be a registered band with the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture for a period of not less than one year.
- All registration and reporting information must be current and up to date.
- Demonstrated an active partnership with the Ministry as evident in support and participation given to national meetings, training, events, and celebration, in particular, the Ministry the National Youth Month.
- Must not have received a grant for the current year.
- Must meet the age category as defined by the Ministry’s mandate.
- Forms may be collected at the Division of Youth or downloaded by clicking the link below.
- The applicant must fill out and submit the application form, along with supporting documents, to the Division of Youth.
- Family Island youth bands may submit forms to the Family Island administrator/Island coordinator.
- The Division of Youth will then acknowledge receipt of the application for a Youth Band Grant in writing.
- The division will review the application to ensure that the applicant is compliant with the criteria outlined in the Youth Grant Policy.
- New youth bands may be required to meet with a ministry official to review the application and the objectives of the organisation.
- Applicants will be informed of approval or non-approval in writing.
- Once the grant is approved, the applicant must go to the Division of Youth with photo identification to collect the cheque.
- National Photo ID (Passport)
- A formal letter outlining the list of the principal members of the Youth Band. This must be submitted on the organisation letter head.
Applications are processed within a period of one month
There is no deadline for this service.
