The Government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas makes house plans available for purchase by the general public.  These plans include the full set of construction drawings.  For owners of houses  constructed in Government Sub-divisions, a set of the  plans is not included in the cost of the houses; therefore the Department of Housing makes the approved plan available for purchase by the home owner.  

The general public and owners of houses constructed on Government Sub-divisions.  Persons must be citizens or permanent residents of The Bahamas.    

1. Persons interested in purchasing house plans must visit the Department of Housing in person to make the purchase.  
2. The interested party will be allowed to view all available models so that the right plan may be identified and selected.  
3. For owners of houses constructed on Government Sub-divisions, the home owner must provide the house number, subdivision where home is located, name and model number (if known).  
4. Grand Bahama and Abaco home owners may submit their request to the local offices of the Ministry of Housing.  All other Family Island home owners must submit their request directly to the New Providence Office, or through the Local Family Island Administrator Office.
5. Once the required plan is identified and requested, a copy of the plan is prepared for the purchaser.
6. If there are extra copies at the Department of Housing the purchaser may be able to secure a copy of the plan the same day.  However, when there are not copies onsite the purchaser must return to the Department of Housing in two or three days to collect the plan.
7. Payment is required upon collection of the house plan.
