This service is provided to assist persons leasing land for agricultural purposes.


Eligibility 

Must be a Bahamian.

Process 
  1. Complete the “Agricultural Crown Land Application Form”. Apply for Agricultural Crown Land.
  2. Develop a Business Proposal for use of the Agricultural Land. The Business Proposal should include the following:
    • Crops to be grown.
    • Livestock to be raised.
    • Marketing arrangements.
    • Employment projections.
    • Financial Arrangements.
    • Development Schedule (for the first 5 years).
  3. Submit the completed form and business proposal to:

    4. An acknowledgement letter of receipt of the application will be issued to the applicant.

    5.  The applicant will then receive a letter of offer and be requested to submit a survey plan and description of the land along with a non-refundable fee.

Family Island residents should apply to the resident Extension Officers (where applicable) or the Family Island Administrator for this service.

Application for Lease of Agricultural Crown Land

Supporting Documents 
  1. A business proposal stating the purpose for obtaining the land.
  2. A valid passport.
Turn-around time 
Applicant will receive an acknowledgement of receipt of the application within five business days. For the Family Islands - Within four weeks, applicant will receive a Letter of Offer. Nassau – Applicant will receive a letter of Offer based on availability of land.
Deadline 
The Letter of Offer expires within 60 days.
Related Fee(s) 

A non-refundable fee of B$50.00 plus 12% VAT and rental fees of B$25 plus 12% VAT per acre must be paid along with the survey plan and description of the land.
